Why SEO Is So Important In Digital Marketing!

The answer is because SEO is really an integral part of Digital Marketing. It will take your website's visibility to a higher position and a position above all your competitors. Well done, it will increase the visibility of the website, drive traffic increase the conversion rate and give a better ROI.

There is often a misunderstanding and many people see SEO as something that is not directly related to digital marketing. This article looks at what SEO is and how and why it is so deeply combined with digital marketing.

So What is SEO?

SEO can be described as the process where your website is optimized in such a way that it is easy to both find, crawl and to categorize it. This is the process where you actually help your customers to find your more easy.

Being successful online is basically to drive as much traffic as possible from all channels to your website. Sounds easy? There are many billions of searches online every day so even if a fraction of those searches is for a product or service that you have, it's a great opportunity.  Then it is just that little thing that as of January 1st, 2020, there were 1,744,517,326 websites up and running. So imagine that even if only a fraction of these websites offer the same products or services as you do, you have a heavy competition! So the important things is to rank higher in the SERP ( Search Engine Result Page)

Search Engines performs a number of activities to check your website, it will be crawled, scanned and measured. And based upon these activities ranked.

Some of the elements that are known in this process are:

  • Website names and URLs
  • Page content
  • Meta tags
  • Characteristics of Link
  • Usability and accessibility
  • Page design

Every  search engine has a software, in Googles case it is Googlebot, that crawls the content. The websites are crawled randomly and sometimes it might take a month or two before the same website is crawled again. This is where an indexing request to Google for an example, can be necessary.  They  cannot crawl image, Flash Movies, JavaScript, Frames, Password protected page  and directories. It is important that pages can be crawled because pages that are not viewable are also not spidered. And with other words not indexed or processed and this way also not found by Search Engines.

Once the page is crawled the indexed page will be stored in a database. So when a search happens online, with a specific keyword that matches the content on your website, your website can be presented as an answer to that specific question. This is why it is so important that the website is optimized with certain keywords. More than millions of pages have the same search phrases. So, the search engine is  measuring the relevancy of all the pages. This is why original content and relevant information on the website is so important!

Algorithms

You have probably heard of Algorithms. The puzzle where the Search Engines are trying to find the website with the most relevant content in relation to the search and then delivers a page to the searcher. A page that has the word or phrase that the searcher looked for, either in the body content or in a URL that directs to the page. Different Search Engines have different Algorithms and this is the reason why you might get different result from the same search in different browsers.

SEO and Digital Marketing

I would actually like to say that the two should not be separated. Because SEO gives the organic traffic meanwhile Digital Marketing takes in the total online existence.So both are living in co existence and Digital Marketing is actually depending on SEO to be able to do a good job. SEO has become more and more important for the digital marketing during the last years.

We have traditionally looked at the two as separate things, I think it is high time to realize that we cannot do successful digital marketing without SEO! This is the approach that Lunar Strategy has taken, we look at both of them as one and we work with them as one!
